SINOPSIS

Eigentlich sollte mit dem Einzug ins Finale der Copa Sudamericana der bis dato größte Erfolg des brasilianischen Fußballclubs Chapecoense gefeiert werden. Also macht sich das Team am 28. November 2016 zusammen mit seinen Trainern, Funktionären sowie auch Journalisten auf den Weg nach Medellín, um das große Hinspiel gegen Atlético Nacional anzutreten – doch dazu sollte es nie kommen. Nur zwölf Kilometer vor dem kolumbianischen Zielflughafen zerschellt das Flugzeug in den Bergen. Wie durch ein Wunder überleben sechs der 77 Passagiere, darunter auch drei Spieler von Chapecoense, dennoch versinkt die ganze Stadt in einer Art Trancezustand. Vor allem die Hinterbliebenen, Fans, Vereinsmitglieder und die Bewohner von Chapecó haben mit der Trauer zu kämpfen. Doch nach und nach mehren sich die Stimmen, die sich nach einem Wiederaufbau des Teams sehnen, wie es auch im Sinne der verstorbenen Spieler wäre. Ein scheinbar unmögliches Unterfangen, aus dem die Betroffenen jedoch Hoffnung für die Zukunft schöpfen...
